Let Your Bespoke Cake Belong to Your Wedding

How to turn your wedding dress and style into a bespoke cake that’s truly yours

Being a wedding cake designer, the most important thing to me is always to create a bespoke cake that truly belongs to my client.
I know many people bring me pictures from Pinterest or Instagram and ask me to “do this one.”

I always tell them: You’re paying for something truly personal — you deserve a design that feels made just for you.

There are countless beautiful cakes online, but none of them carry your story, your colours, or your energy.

So my job is to guide each client through a process of discovery — to understand their story, their personality, their wedding vision.
Every couple is different: some have unique personal stories; others focus more on making sure the cake matches the decoration and venue perfectly.
Today, I want to show you one example from Kiss That Cake 2024 Collection,
and how I turn inspiration into a design that becomes truly one-of-a-kind.

Why Your Cake Should Match Your Wedding Style

Whenever I start a design, I always ask for the couple’s wedding mood board, or at least some floral samples, decoration references,
the wedding dress, the guest dress code, and of course, the venue.
It’s not because I’m curious — it’s because I can’t allow a cake to look like it was moved in from someone else’s wedding.

Sometimes, brides worry that their personal taste in cakes won’t fit the overall wedding style.
That’s exactly where my work begins: to take what you love and blend it into the story of your day.

From Dress to Dessert — Translating Inspiration into Design

Most brides actually define their wedding style long before they come to me.
At this stage, if the bride has already chosen her dress, it often becomes a wonderful source of inspiration. Sometimes they share it with me in secret — without letting the groom see it.

For the Candy Necklace design (one of the pieces from Kiss That Cake 2024 Collection)
I explored the latest bridal collections from designers like Eva Lendel, Berta, and Kim Kassas.
Their gowns inspired me to think about how delicate fabrics, pearls, and jewelry details could be reborn — not on fabric, but in sugar.

This is something I often do when clients don’t yet have a clear vision: bridal fashion can be the perfect starting point for discovering a cake’s direction.

The song “Candy Necklace” by Lana Del Rey also shaped the concept — its vintage, timeless, and dreamy atmosphere felt like the exact spirit of this design.

So I imagined vintage jewelry — necklaces, rings, and soft, glossy textures —
but balanced them with clean, modern lines to avoid heaviness.
It remembers the past but still feels fresh and current.

2024 Trend — Romantic Vintage with a Modern Twist

In 2024, the vintage trend continues to shine, but in weddings it needs a careful balance.

A wedding is a once-in-a-lifetime moment — most brides want something that feels classic and refined,
not overly trendy or short-lived.

This is where the challenge:
combining that nostalgic feeling with a sense of freshness.
The result is romantic, timeless, but still a little unexpected.
That’s what I wanted the Candy Necklace cake to express.

Designing for the Setting

This part involves more than just the cake — it’s about collaboration with your decorator or planner.
In Ibiza, the cake-cutting moment usually happens after sunset.
The light is soft and golden, and I always recommend adding gentle lighting on the cake table —
some candles, or even a subtle warm spotlight.
A white or mirrored cake stand works beautifully to reflect that evening glow.

For Candy Necklace, I used edible sugar jewelry, edible flowers,
and a vintage jewelry box on the side as part of the setup.
Everything on your cake table such as the stand, the mirror, the flowers — formed one visual story.

About Kiss That Cake

Every year we create a new collection, not to follow trends but to explore new ways of connecting stories, emotions, and craftsmanship.
Each design begins with a client’s story — and ends with a cake that feels like it truly belongs to them.
