Bring Your Tableware Into the Story
(Kiss That Cake 2024 Collection — “Still Life”)

Have you ever wondered why some cakes look like they belong in a painting?
It’s not just about the cake design — it’s about the scene around it.
The light, the candles, the fruit, and the textures together create that dreamlike, “filtered” atmosphere that makes every photo look like art.
About the 2024 Collection
Every year, Kiss That Cake creates a new Collection — not just to showcase design ideas, but to explore technique and inspire other creators.
In 2023, vintage cakes and Lambeth piping took over the wedding world, bringing ornate, nostalgic details back into trend.
By late 2023 and into 2024, we started seeing playful twists: swirls, asymmetry, and bold combinations that made vintage design feel fresh again.
The piece “Still Life” from the 2024 Collection is one of these experiments: an artistic exercise in light, composition, and classical mood.

How to Create a Baroque-Inspired Cake Scene
If your cake design leans vintage, your background should speak the same language. Here are a few secrets to make your setup look cinematic and timeless:
- Use tall candles — they add height and layers of shadow, creating that dramatic Baroque lighting.
- Mix candle colours — 2023–2024 trends favour pastel lilac, dusty pink, or honey gold, instead of all white. It’s time to be playful!
- Add fruits — pomegranates, grapes, and apples bring richness and colour contrast to vintage tables.
- Keep the light low and directional — side lighting adds depth and makes the textures glow.
- Choose antique-style props — lace fabric, Victorian ceramics, and gold candleholders instantly set the tone.

Many people can’t resist collecting beautiful tableware — porcelain knives, hand-painted teapots, or vintage cake servers that look too delicate to use.
If you’re one of them, this is your moment.
Those pieces you’ve been keeping in a cabinet can finally take the spotlight.
When styled thoughtfully, they don’t just serve a function — they become part of the story.
Mixing these art pieces with candles, fabrics, and flowers in similar tones instantly gives your table that “fine art” atmosphere — elegant, intimate, and unforgettable.
When these elements come together, your cake becomes more than decoration — it becomes part of a story, like a still-life painting brought to life.
And when that story unfolds at your celebration, every photo becomes unforgettable.
It’s not just about having a beautiful cake — it’s about creating a moment your guests will remember and love to share.
The Art of Table Styling

This shoot was created in collaboration with Maison Ad Libitum Ibiza, a boutique décor studio whose pieces feel more like collectibles than props.
Every element on the table — the porcelain knives and cake servers delicately painted with floral motifs, the teapot illustrated like a page from a storybook, the tiered stands, and the embroidered tablecloth — carries its own artistic soul.
These objects are not easy to find, yet when placed together in matching tones, they create a harmony that feels almost museum-worthy.
It’s about craftsmanship, history, and taste. The quiet beauty that turns a simple dessert table into something timeless.

Behind it all, the flower arrangement of peonies, roses, and hydrangeas completes the scene with a noble, aristocratic grace — the kind that makes every guest pause before they take a seat.
